The Maltese Gaming Authority (MGA) has taken away Tipster Limited’s permit to operate in the nation after the company recently went into liquidation.

The regulatory body put a hold on Tipster’s operations in July in response to the winding-up order and is now moving forward with a complete withdrawal of the license. The MGA stated that this was the most fitting course of action.

Tipster is now obligated to inform all its customers about the license revocation and settle any outstanding payments with the regulator. The sports betting company has also been instructed to remove any reference to its MGA license from its online presence.

All license revocations and suspensions in Malta are subject to a review process.

Tipster is facing financial difficulties and is undergoing insolvency proceedings.
The suspension of the license and its subsequent revocation followed the initiation of insolvency proceedings against Tipster in June. Dr. Jörg Gollnick was appointed as the temporary administrator responsible for overseeing the insolvency process.

Gollnick also serves as the temporary administrator for Tipster Service GmbH, a subsidiary of the Tipster group. At the time of the appointment, Gollnick indicated that the possibility of restructuring the company depended on the operator’s value.

Shortly after these events, the German gambling regulator, the Joint Gambling Authority of the Federal States (GGL), revoked Tipster’s sports betting license.

The GGL did not provide a reason for the revocation but stated that the decision was made to ensure the protection of players.

Information regarding the availability of Tipster is no longer assured.

The German publication Bild previously reported that Tipster’s main office in Cologne was searched.

At the time, law enforcement officials did not confirm the target of the search, but stated it was related to an inquiry into an unnamed sports wagering company.

This occurred following a prolonged investigation into suspected criminal activities. These activities included providing illicit gambling and forming a criminal organization. A total of six individuals were apprehended during the search.

Other operators face license withdrawals in Malta.

Tipster is the most recent operator to have its license revoked or suspended in Malta in recent months.

The Malta Gaming Authority rescinded the B2C gaming services license of EGMIT Elite Limited. EGMIT Elite operated its Elite24bet website under this license and has halted all operations.

This month, the Malta Gaming Authority also suspended the license of SFJL Holding Limited due to specific irregularities. These irregularities included rules related to significant changes within the business, and the requirement to inform the regulator of these changes.

However, the Malta Gaming Authority opted to lift the suspension on Green Feather Online. The regulator had suspended Green Feather’s license, requiring it to stop all operations under the license.

At the time, the Malta Gaming Authority stated that Green Feather had violated several aspects of the country’s gaming compliance and enforcement rules.

However, the Malta Gaming Authority lifted the suspension, emphasizing the operator’s “prompt action and cooperation.”
