Maltas regulatory body is preparing to implement NFT rules through a new round of discussions.
The Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) has commenced a confidential consultation on a proposed new policy regarding the use of cutting-edge technological arrangements (ITA) and the acceptance of digital financial assets (VFA) and digital tokens.
The consultation will be open until December 14th and invites interested parties to share their thoughts on the MGA’s plans to introduce new rules and regulations in these areas.
As part of the consultation process, the MGA will be hosting a series of “Regulatory Workshops” aimed at creating a more regular and structured communication channel between industry stakeholders and the MGA, and encouraging informal discussions on regulatory matters.
The first of these meetings will take place next month and will focus on the regulator’s proposed policy on ITAs, VFAs, and digital tokens. The MGA will invite interested stakeholders to participate in the workshop.
“The ongoing consultation will provide an opportunity for these stakeholders to submit feedback (if any) on the proposed policy,” the MGA stated.
The consultation follows the MGA’s recent pledge to introduce “comprehensive player protection guidelines” for licensees, for which the agency has launched a separate consultation.
The Maltese Gaming Authority (MGA) convened a private gathering in September to deliberate on accountable gambling practices. They examined the measures gambling enterprises must implement to curb problematic gambling and the indicators of individuals experiencing difficulties.
This assembly followed the MGA and its specialists’ exploration of enhanced player protection strategies. They also conducted their own investigations into responsible gaming.
