The National Thoroughbred League (NTL) has declared its intention to set up a new central office in Las Vegas, vowing to “reshape the scene of sports amusement.”
The NTL, which was established earlier this year, splits horse racing into distinct groups for competition, simplifying the wagering experience.
The relocation to Las Vegas was a logical decision to take advantage of the city’s expanding role as a sports center and offer the NTL more chances to form strategic collaborations. The NTL was also drawn to the possibility of expanding fan involvement.
“We are thrilled to declare the NTL’s move to the dynamic city of Las Vegas,” said Tom Rudder, Head of the NTL. “This shift signifies a strategic choice for our league to align with a community that shares our enthusiasm for sports and entertainment.
“Las Vegas provides an exceptional platform for the NTL, with a wealth of sports wagering and event management expertise.”
Las Vegas hosted its inaugural Formula One race in November, and the Oakland Athletics of Major League Baseball have also declared their intention to relocate to the city in the future.
The sports team is taking a cue from the NFL’s Las Vegas Raiders, relocating from Oakland to Las Vegas. The city is becoming a major player in the NFL, hosting the draft in 2022, and the Raiders’ Allegiant Stadium will host the Super Bowl in February.
The NTL isn’t the only organization placing a large wager on Las Vegas. BetMGM states that 2024 is their year to “unleash” the city.
The F1 race in November attracted 300,000 fans to Las Vegas. This resulted in Bet MGM’s betting volume being three times greater than any other F1 race in their history.
Bet MGM CEO Adam Greenblatt discussed how Las Vegas is excellent for acquiring new customers.
“2024 is our year to unlock Las Vegas,” Greenblatt said. “It’s significant because the cost of acquiring a new player in Las Vegas is 27% of the cost in other locations. They are also worth over 130% more.”
