Shifting Pace: Melissa Summerfield Discusses Leading a New Venture
For Summerfield, the primary attraction of her latest role was its status as a nascent company.
Summerfield’s professional background has primarily involved large corporations, but the chance to guide a new initiative was a change she felt was necessary.
“It was the chance to lead a firm, which is clearly a top objective for anyone with aspirations. But most importantly, because it was a fledgling enterprise.”
She informed iGB that the position would enable her to apply her expertise from numerous other positions in a completely fresh setting.
“I can bring all my experience to a company where I can truly witness its growth from the outset,” she stated.
“Being able to serve as CEO and contribute from the ground up – as an ambitious individual, I believe that was something I truly needed to accomplish.”
From B2C to B2B
Summerfield has amassed an impressive professional history. She began her career at BetVictor, where she was responsible for their customer relationship management, before transitioning to Party Gaming, and subsequently to BWin following the merger of the two companies.
She was elevated to the position of Head of Game Operations during a social gathering.
However, Summerfield states that she desired a shift in her career path.
“I had been involved in operations for approximately 12 years. However, I decided to alter my course. I felt the need to advance, acquire new abilities, and transition to the other side of the industry, which is B2B. Consequently, I established an office for Microgaming in Gibraltar.”
She was appointed as the Vice President of Operations for Microgaming, and shortly thereafter, she was presented with the opportunity to assume the role of Chief Commercial Officer at Pragmatic Play.
“All of these experiences, commencing as a CRM executive and subsequently progressing to Chief Commercial Officer for both B2C and B2B, have prepared me for this current position.”
Summerfield provided a detailed explanation of Markor Technology’s business operations and offerings. For her, the primary factor is the ability to furnish solutions for a diverse range of product types and licenses.
“We provide a comprehensive solution for other online gaming operators.”
“If you desire to establish a casino that encompasses sports betting and bingo, we can furnish you with the necessary solution, or we can manage it for you.” Markor Technology possesses both B2B and B2C licenses and is driven by the ambition to obtain additional licenses and offer its products globally. At present, the company is in the concluding stages of the MGA license application process and anticipates receiving the license in early 2023.
In addition to plans to secure more permits, for operators who already possess PAM systems, we can supply gaming content. We possess a broad content aggregation platform with over 5,000 games, and it’s expanding each month. Over 70 providers have joined our platform. Summerfield believes the company is groundbreaking due to its wide array of products, which is also why she desires to lead the company.
**Strategic Direction**
If Summerfield had to select one key strategy to make Markor Technology prosperous, it would be acquiring licenses.
“One of the primary pillars of our strategy is our technologically robust licensing and certification. If we identify an opportunity to obtain a license and can collaborate with local operators, we will pursue it.” As of now, the Markor gaming aggregation platform has been certified in the UK, Gibraltar, and Spain. Markor hopes to be authorized in Portugal and Ontario soon.
What’s next with entry into numerous markets? Summerfield points out that it’s challenging to contend with the most established aggregators in terms of the quantity of games integrated.
Instead, she emphasizes that the company is currently focusing on a successful strategy of “optimal service,” which is a key distinguisher from rivals. With a vast network of industry contacts, this is an area where her past experience could prove beneficial.
Markor Technologies is a newcomer in the gaming sector, but they have lofty goals. They’re concentrating on forging robust partnerships and delivering exceptional service. They’re also spreading the word through industry events and conferences, such as the recent SBC Barcelona and G2E Las Vegas gatherings. They’ll even be making their debut at the Sigma Malta exhibition, which instills a great deal of confidence in their prospects.
Markor’s chief executive, Summerfield, is ambitious and envisions them as one of the leading gaming aggregators within the next year. They’re collaborating with renowned operators and suppliers and are certain of their ability to contend with the best. They aspire to become a leading PAM solution provider.
In essence, there’s no logical reason why businesses in this sector wouldn’t be eager to collaborate with us. We possess the product, service, and all the required permits. We’re truly enthusiastic about this venture and the accomplishments our company will attain in this market.”
