This week, Corredor Empresarial S.A. was granted its second internet gaming permit by Colombia, enabling the firm to offer lottery and wagering options. The Colombian-based business will utilize the Betplay.com.co domain for its sports wagering, slot machines, roulette, and other games. On Monday, as declared by Coljuegos, the Colombian gaming regulatory agency, they obtained the nation’s second official authorization.
The permit, costing over $1 million and valid for five years, marks a substantial move for the nation. Juan B. Pérez Hidalgo, Coljuegos president, asserted that this will contribute funds to the national health service. The administration aims to generate 8 billion Colombian pesos (US$2.6 million) within the initial year of overseeing this sector.
Corredor Empresarial is not unfamiliar with the field. They already oversee more than 25,000 physical betting sites nationwide and had previously established agreements with European gaming technology suppliers Kambi Sports Solutions and R Franco Digital in June of the preceding year.
Colombia is rapidly developing into a prime location for gaming providers. It was the first Latin American jurisdiction to formally regulate internet gambling, with the legislation taking effect last October. Aquila Global Group, an electronic gaming machine operator based in Medellín, was granted the inaugural permit earlier this summer (June), permitting them to operate online in Colombia under the Wplay.co brand.
In an effort to bolster the success of domestically licensed gaming businesses, Colombia has blocked access to more than 300 offshore operators. Starting in July, Coljuegos, the nation’s gaming regulatory agency, has been restricting access to international gaming platforms.
