The UK National Lottery’s designated successor, Allwyn, has recently named Mark Hughes as their new Chief Security Officer. Hughes, slated to join the leadership team on January 15th, will manage all facets of lottery security in readiness for the formal transition on February 1st.
Hughes contributes extensive expertise to the position. His most recent role was Chief Information Security Officer at Smart DCC, an organization managing the protected communications infrastructure supporting the UK’s smart meter deployment. Previously, he dedicated 16 years to Vodafone UK, ultimately ascending to the head of corporate security. In this capacity, he oversaw all elements of Vodafone UK’s security protocols and regulatory adherence, collaborating closely with governmental and intelligence entities.
“Ensuring the lottery’s protection is of the utmost importance as we get ready to introduce our ambitious vision for the National Lottery, modernizing it, enhancing its digital capabilities, and making it more captivating for all participants,” remarked Robert Chvatal, Allwyn UK CEO. “I am pleased to welcome Mark to our group.”
Allwyn has designated a new Head of Security, charging him with supervising every facet of protection, encompassing digital security and system reliability to the physical well-being of their activities. This action highlights Allwyn’s dedication to protecting the UK National Lottery, a duty they will shortly assume.
The incoming Head of Security conveyed his eagerness, remarking that he is “privileged to join Allwyn at this pivotal moment” and stressed his satisfaction in aiding an institution that “genuinely assists worthy endeavors.” He mentioned his eagerness to commence work.
This designation follows Allwyn’s remarkable fiscal outcomes revealed earlier this month. The corporation declared substantial increases in both overall income and gross gaming income, largely driven by their successful purchase of Camelot, the former National Lottery administrator.
