The UK National Lottery’s new manager, Allwyn, is restructuring its governing body by bringing on Sebastian Coe and Simon Burke. This shift coincides with the planned exit of veteran board member Sir Keith Mills.
Sir Keith was instrumental in Allwyn’s successful takeover of the National Lottery from Camelot, concluding their nearly 30-year tenure. His exit, scheduled for January 31, 2024, allows for new viewpoints within the board.
Sebastian Coe, a prominent figure in athletics and a House of Lords member, will become the Senior Independent Non-Executive Director starting February 1, 2024. Simon Burke, with extensive experience as CEO of various organizations, will join as an Independent Non-Executive Director and assume the critical role of Audit Committee Chair.
These additions occur during a period of change for the National Lottery, as Allwyn is poised to officially assume control in February 2024.
Burke and Coe’s background managing the transition of the national lottery to a different provider will be essential for Allwyn. Although both presently hold non-executive director positions at Camelot (the incumbent operator), Coe will resign from this capacity prior to joining Allwyn.
